- Are you worried your child or teen is struggling to make or keep friends?
- Does your child have a hard time in social situations?
- Do they seem angry, depressed, or anxious?
- As a parent, are you unsure how to help?
I work with children and teens to help them develop new life and social skills using talk, play therapy and movement. During therapy, your child will learn to better recognize their feelings and develop new coping strategies and skills that will help improve their relationships. My goal is to help your child gain a better understanding of him or her self and become more connected with others. I have been successful in helping children and teens make more meaningful connections with others and improved relationships with friends.
As well as working individually with your child and teen, I believe it is important to partner with parents to track improvement and jointly develop strategies that build on individual sessions. I begin our relationship by meeting first with parents and then begin an assessment period with the child and teen that usually lasts between 1-3 sessions. Afterward, I meet again with parents to jointly create a plan moving forward.
I feel it is important to constantly track progress and monitor change. For that reason, I check in frequently with parents and try to collaborate with schools or other providers that may be involved.
